All youngsters experience challenges, some more serious than others. Even though they might not show it (or even know it), all they sometimes really need is someone to listen to them and guide them in the right direction. Mentoring youngsters isn’t always as hard as it seems but at the same time, not everyone is up for it and it takes serious dedication. With the right morals, attitudes and experience, you could provide guidance and advice in order to motivate them and help them feel better about themselves and succeed the way that they want to.
As a mentor you’d be expected to provide:
- CAREER COUNSELLING
- GOAL SETTING
- FUTURE READINESS
- You are 27+.
- You can devote 30-40 minutes to a child every month over video call.
- You can stay committed to the mentoring program for 12 months.
- You will mentor the child yourself and if need be find subject matter experts from your network to help.
- You will be empathetic to the child, moreso since they come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
