Skill and perfection are the elements that make a person competitive in his or her field of work. A skilled person utilizes the time and resources in its best possible way which makes them stand-out in the crowd. You must be wondering why I am discussing skill, perfection, etc… Just like professional skills, children also need basic life skills which distinguish them from others. These basic life skill helps them to grasp the professional skill later on. With food, you can feed them once but with knowledge and skill, you can change their present as well as their future. The ultimate goal of FHI is to make children capable to excel in the changing circumstances; apart from academic intelligence, each youth should possess a specific set of qualities and life skills. The concept of bringing changes in hundreds and thousands of lives in a distinct way galvanized me to be a part of Fly Higher India – FHI.
Another link that connects me and FHI is, focus on the children. Children have numerous dreams and they are ready to achieve it. The only thing they need is motivation and the correct path to follow. When you come across them you got to know how enthusiastic they are about their dreams. Let me tell you about my experience. On my 6th event, a group of 4-5 boys requested me to see their dance steps which are choreographed by them which were quite impressive and they wanted me to appreciate their efforts which gives them the ultimate motivation and as I appreciated their dance steps they promised me to show some new steps next time. This shows how a little appreciation can bring changes and happiness among them.
I was grown up listening to the brave story of soldiers from my uncles, they were the part of the 1987 Sri Lankan peacekeeping force. Since childhood, I am a bit patriotic. Secondly, I am mad about new technology. Then one day my father described me the real meaning of serving the nation, the real meaning of bringing change which changed my perspective of making a difference to the world. Then I decided to compile my madness into my profession and my inspiration into my passion. You can serve your motherland directly or indirectly in whatever field you are. FHI has given me the platform to build future warriors; warriors in different fields of society. With FHI I got the kick that I was searching for. FHI guided me to be a helping hand for the thousands of children and youths dreaming for a bright future. FHI has given me an opportunity to work for something that I am truly passionate about. I can get to see the changes I am bringing in the society and get satisfaction from the fact that it is by our efforts that somebody else’s life is changing and the future is glowing. So its “FHI: making the future”.
